Adweek’s Wendy Melillo says it best:

The problem doesn’t lie with the public relations profession itself. It happens when some PR practitioners come to believe, either from their experiences in classrooms or corporate offices, that the little white lies and twisting of facts are acceptable ways to do business and get ahead.

So far, many agencies have been busted altering pages for their clients.  Unfortunately, it is inevitable that some will continue to do so using IP blocking software and other methods.  The creator of WikkiScanner (the software that allows you to view who has edited pages) told NPR that he created it purposely, “To create a fireworks display of public relations disasters for all the world to sit back, and enjoy.”  Why do we keep setting of fireworks?
