WSJ To Re-Launch Pursuits
September 17, 2007
After changing the name of its Saturday leisure section several weeks ago from Pursuits to Weekend Journal, the Wall Street Journal announced today the title will return next year as a monthly luxury magazine, “designed to explore the ‘world of wealth.'”
Robert Frank, current wealth reporter for the Journal, is rumored to be a possible editor and is already “heavily involved” in the planning.
Just last week, FishbowlNY interviewed the New York Times’ Horatio Silva and Seth Rogin on the launch of T: The New York Times Style Magazine, which will have almost a one year lead on Pursuits when it is launched on December 2nd. Clearly execs at both publications realize the enormous ad revenue potential for this luxury market, while other main profit centers – notably financial services and real estate – are on the decline.
Not wanting to be left out of the party – and in an effort to boost low Sunday sales – the NY Post announced that a new Page Six Magazine will now be included in every Sunday edition of the paper, starting this week.
